Featured Talent: Garbajio
The LTB Roster is full of talent from various sectors of the festival and live entertainment industries.
Each month we feature some of their extraordinary work for you to enjoy!
Sometimes the feature takes the form of an online Picture Gallery, at other times it may be access to a Free Playlist and other times it may be a Video Performance or audio podcast interview where we sit down and pick the brain of one of your favorites.
This month, we’ve chosen to feature Garbajio of Eric Pflug Art, who drops a few tidbits of knowledge from his Journal and explains what’s going on in his mind while he paints.
The moment the moment, peaceful heart taken apart, reconstruct and hold it.
Eric Pflug’s Journal – February 2020
This quote from Eric’s Personal Journal dated February of 2020 is a reflection on accepting things and how they are. He says “Once we understand what’s going on in our lives we can begin to choose the reality we want to live.”
It’s an interesting choice considering the next month the United States and the rest of the world was thrown into a Pandemic of epic proportions by the Coronavirus, which no one had the choice to reject. So everyone was forced to take life moment by moment as peaceful hearts were torn apart for many as loved ones were lost and so many had to reconstruct their lives without them and without jobs or resources that were gone due to the shut down of many economies.
I’ll paint you a picture of how it used to be. You’re a shining light, darling don’t you see? We tried so damn hard to be free. Now everywhere we go we’re planting seeds.
Eric Pflug Journal – January 2021
This second quote from Eric’s Personal Journal “touches on many ideas.” He told us that “Today we must do what we can to leave a better world for future generations. By planting seeds, we are rooting down to support and nourish creative spirit within ourselves and others. This applies to all aspects of life, art and relationships. It doesn’t stop there. Once a garden has begun, it must receive proper care to flourish! Whatever fruits we wish to harvest next year should hold our invested focus today.”
We think he’s right on par and very timely as we see a lot of destruction going on in the world of people and property. With multiple mass shootings occurring weekly, Police Injustice not seeming to slow down and discrimination, sexism, homo and transphobia along with xenophobia running ramped, we are hard pressed to find seeds that “nourish creative spirit within ourselves and others.”
This is where we believe art, music and entertainment has, can and will continue to make a difference in life and relationships. We thoroughly agree with Garbajio’s assessment that It mustn’t stop there and we all need to work together to plant a garden that will harvest our invested focus that will replace the garden of exploitation and community division that is on the rise.
So is it possible to see some of the knowledge in these quotes translated into his art? Listen to what he has to say in this painting commentary.
Message from the Artist:
Hey guys, it’s me, ya boy Garbajio.
I’m so excited to start working with LTB booking! Thanks for stopping by and checking out this feature, be sure to check out the other artists on the roster. LTB is really the place for us creators. Not only do we get a platform of representation, but we also get a community. That is the biggest thing for me, there is only so much we can do on our own. We need each other to share new ideas and opportunities to thrive in this crazy world. If you’ve stumbled upon this page and are a creator, please reach out to LTB about joining the ranks. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain, seriously. We are artist owned and everything that goes in comes back to you full circle.
I would like to share with you a work in progress. I’ve been working on this painting off and on for over a year. It’s really starting to come together, but has a long way to go! This painting is 44″ x 60″ made with acrylic on canvas. I’m calling it “Sat-Chit-Ananda” which translates from Sanskrit to “Being, Consciousness, Bliss.” This name came to me while reading a Joseph Campbell book, “The Power of Myth.” One quote that really struck me from this book of interviews with Campbell was “If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are- if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.”
Sat Chit Ananda by Eric “Garbajio” Pflug
No matter if you think you’re an artist or not, it is important to pursue what truly fulfills you. Personally, I find fulfillment when writing or painting, but also by helping others with their projects and ideas. Manifesting bliss is what we are all about here at LTB!
It was so good to have you here. Thank you LTB for letting me share some of my work, process and ideas.
Blessings,
Eric (Garbajio) Pflug
P.S. If you are a painter and would like to collaborate, please reach out to me! Collaboration is always so refreshing and can bring new ideas to life. I’ll supply the materials 😉
