In an effort to be transparent with how we operate as an organization, interact with and serve our talent, and how we engage with perspective organizations wishing to secure the talent we represent, we have fashioned this list of answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

I’m a Venue, Festival or Private Party wishing to purchase one of your talents. What will the stipulations of the contractual agreement between us and LTB look like?

All contracts at for LTB Talent are negotiated and facilitated by either LTB or the talent we represent themselves. Contracts for the purchase of services are between the Purchaser and the Talent. To get more details, you can view our Standard LTB Agency Booking Agreement.

Do you do one off booking and promotions services?

Yes. You can hire LTB to do booking and promotions for your one time event.

What does it mean that LTB is cooperatively owned and collaboratively operated?

In the traditional capitalist enterprise model, owners hire workers to produce products and services with their labor by using the means or resources that are the property of those owners. The products and services that result are then exchanged (in most cases sold) in a market (a situation where products and services are provided to people to meet a demand) to gain or accumulate more resources, the ownership of which remains in the control of the owners.

In this situation, the workers have little to no say in when, how or why the products and services are produced and get very little share of the pool of resource gains from bringing the products and services to market other than what is subtracted from that pool to compensate them for their labor based on employee contracts.

The cooperative model rectifies this by making every contributor of the enterprise just as important to the process as any other. By elevating workers to ownership based on their valuable and necessary contribution (without workers to produce them there are no products), the cooperative creates a situation where all contribute and all contributors have a greater investment in the success of the enterprise because they own it and are insured a greater share of the pool of resource gains and greater control over the process that generate outcomes and gains.

LTB is a producer cooperative because each talent and members of the staff bring to the table production materials and tools of the trade that is used in the cooperative enterprise thereby contributing needed resources to the enterprise to produce what it does.

We are also a worker owned and managed cooperative since every member that brings production materials and tools to the enterprise is a working owner rather than just a worker and their contribution is treated equitably since the production would not occur without them.

Therefore in the LTB producer worker owned cooperative, every contributing entity has a say in when, how and why products and services are produced and has a significant stake in the success of enterprise since they share in the resource gains when they are brought to market.

How much does LTB get for booking gigs and where does that go?

Typically, the commission for the facilitation of bookings by LTB is 15%. The commission is subtracted from the Deposit that is required at least 10 days prior to an engagement that totals 35% of the Agreed Cash Compensation negotiated by the LTB Agency Booking Agreement. Another 5% from the Deposit is used to handle administration costs for that engagements, which includes setting up lodging, meals and other important necessities. The Final portion of the Deposit is deposited in the Talent’s Account and used as advances for the engagement.

How does the promotions part of LTB work?

LTB provides these basic promotional services to all of its cooperative worker owner enterprises that contribute to our operations:

a) Assistance and Consulting for Talent’s Electronic Promotions Kit (EPK)
b) Finding and Exposing Talent’s Content to Potential Purchasers and Engagements
c) Extending Market Audience Reach of Talent’s Content
d) Providing Assistance and Consulting in Talent’s Brand Development
e) Providing Talent’s Access to LTB Network
f) Establishing a Talent’s relationship with Home Market Venue
g) Setting up Talent’s Collaborations

For example, if a DJ provides services for an LTB event or an event produced or by or attended by one of the members of the LTB Talent Roster, LTB will promote that event and use content from that event to promote the talent in terms of this list of services.

How does being talent in a cooperative booking and promotions situation benefit me financially over just paying another booking agency to do it?

Traditional booking agencies don’t have their own interests in mind over the talent. If talent they represent is not at the top of their reach and the agencies buyers and audience are responding less to them, they are usually prioritized by the agency less so than those who are being responded to more-so.

With a cooperative situation, everyone on the roster is prioritized and promoted based on their own development. If talent is producing content of any kind it will be included in the general promotion campaigns such as #MusicMonday and #TalentTalk. They will also be promoted via campaigns specific to them. However, those who are not producing content will be promoted less only because they are lagging in the production of content that can be used in promotions. So the more a talent produced by content, the more content there is for LTB to use in the promotion of that talent.
